KDF® Process Media + Centaur™ catalytic G.A.C.

KDF® Process Media + Centaur™ catalytic G.A.C.

Stage 2 Zephyr

This is a special filter that combines the redox properties of KDF® Process Media with Centaur™ catalytic granular activated carbon. One pound of KDF® Process Media, granulated pieces of copper and zinc-based alloys, act as agents to combine with chemicals such as free chlorine, heavy metals, and bacteria transforming them from a toxic to benign compounds. Heavy metals plate out immediately on the metal granules. Others are converted, such as chlorine becoming chloride, and then stripped from the water. In the next stage, the granular activated carbon adsorbs much of what is left.

Filter life: 10,000 gallons of water, or one year.

Pleated Polypropylene Filter removes parasites*

Pleated Polypropylene Filter

Stage 1 (Zephyr & Agate)

In this filter, a unique static media acts as an absolute sub-micron (0.2 µm) barrier. This removes 99.9% of parasites like Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Very fine particles are also blocked, reducing turbidity and protecting the carbon block from fouling to improve its performance. Most competitive filters are classified by their nominal values which allow for larger particles to slip through. Our rating is absolute, meaning only smaller particles can pass through. At less than one millionth of a meter, that isn't much.

Filter life: 1 year or when pressure drops.

Stage 3 (Zephyr & Agate)

Carbon as a filter media is the workhorse of water filtration systems. It eliminates the taste and odors of chlorine and disinfection by-products, while adding nothing to the water itself. We use the highest rated, NSF Certified coconut carbon filters in the world. Carbon derived from coconut shells has much more surface area than comparable coal-based granular activated carbon (GAC) filters. In addition, the coconut carbon has a rigid structure which prevents water from creating a higher flow pathway with a lower contact time. More impurities bond to coconut carbon resulting in filtration that is far superior to GAC filters. This stage reduces chlorine, chloramines, disinfection by-products, pharmaceuticals, organic chemicals, as well as their taste and odors.

Coconut carbon filters are available with a nominal porosity of 1.0 µm and 0.5 µm.

Filter Life: 10,000 gallons, or one year, or before taste and odor appear.

Fluoride/Arsenic Filter

Arsenic Filter

Stage 3 Crystal

A special NSF certified media that reduces uranium and arsenic 3 and 5 to more stringently acceptable levels.

Filter Life: 2,000 gallons, or before taste and odor appear.

Fluoride Filter

Fluoride Filter

Stage 2 Agate

A special NSF certified media that reduces fluoride, chlorine, chloramines and VOC’s to more stringently acceptable levels.

Filter Life: 2,500 gallons per year

Centaur™ Catalytic G.A.C.

Centaur™ Catalytic G.A.C.

Not your average Granular Activated Carbon, Centaur™ uses a proprietary process to activate the carbon granules to work as a catalyst in adsorption of chlorine, chloramines, pharmeceuticals, and organic compounds while taking out the taste and odor they impart to municipal water.

Filter Life: 4,000 gallons, approx. one year, or before taste and odor appear.
