Stage 1 uses a 1.0 µm absolute pleated polypropylene filter absolute filter made of pleated polypropylene to reduce turbidity, block bacteria, viruses, and cysts like Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
Stage 2 uses a coconut shell carbon block to adsorb lingering traces of chlorines, chloramines, disinfection by-products, organic chemicals, odors and taste.

Stage 2 uses a 1.0 micron (µm) absolute filter made of pleated polypropylene to reduce turbidity, block bacteria, and cysts like Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

Stage 1 of this filtration system uses 14 pounds of a proprietary, activated KDF® Process Media that is fluidized to enchance reacting with toxins in the water to convert them to harmless compounds and reduces heavy metals and bacteria. Chlorine becomes chloride, and heavy metals plate out on the media.
Stage 2 uses a 1.0 micron (µm) absolute filter made of pleated polypropylene to reduce turbidity, block most bacteria, and cysts like Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
In Stage 3 and 4 the water moves through two coconut shell carbon blocks, each progressively finer to trap and adsorb lingering traces of chlorines, chloramines, disinfection by-products (DBPs), organic chemicals, odors and taste. The porosity of Stage 3 has a nominal porosity of 1 µm, Stage 4 is 0.5 µm nominal. Carbon from coconut shells has higher absorption properties than coal-based granular carbon to deliver cleaner, better tasting water.
In the final, 5th Stage we expose the filtered water to ultraviolet light. Any bacteria, viruses or cysts that manage to make this far will be killed through UV exposure making your water certifiably pure. And delicious!
